Olora Home Health Care

A brand-new Los Angeles home health agency needed to launch with a site families could find and trust — and the owner’s first question wasn’t about design. It was about speed.

The brief

She asked about speed before she asked about design.

That is an unusual first question from a client, and a fair one. A home health site is read by people who are stressed — a family arranging care after a hospital discharge, often on a phone, often in a hurry. A site that stalls between pages loses them.

So performance was treated as a requirement from the first decision rather than something to optimise at the end: hosting specified up front, the design resolved before build, and a deliberately small plugin count.

The decisions

Built around how families actually search.

  1. Every service got its own page

Families don't search for an agency, they search for a need — "speech therapy at home", "skilled nursing after surgery". Six services, six pages, each written to answer one of those searches rather than a single list buried on one page.

  2. Service areas woven in, not walled off

Rather than a dedicated location page per county, the areas served run through the homepage and every service page. It keeps the local signal without spending the budget on twelve thin pages that would each say the same thing.

  3. Careers built as a real page

A home health agency lives or dies on staffing. Careers got its own page with a CV upload form — not folded into the FAQ, because a nurse looking for work and a family looking for care are not the same visitor.

  4. Credentials placed where they reassure

CDPH licensing and ACHC accreditation sit near the top of the page and repeat through the service pages, because this is a decision families make while anxious.

The site

Calm, credible, easy to act on.

The homepage, top to bottom.

Most of this traffic arrives on a phone, so the phone layout led the design: real photographs of the team, round-the-clock support stated plainly, and each service explained on its own page.

Performance

The thing she asked about first.

Measured on the live site, every page answers and finishes loading in around two seconds — including the service pages, which is where page-to-page movement actually happens.

How it was built

Kept deliberately light.

  • Designed in full before development, so the build was executing a plan, not improvising
  • Kept the plugin count low — every plugin is weight on every page
  • Hosting specified up front instead of treated as an afterthought
  • Content written around what families actually search for
  • FAQs on each service page, answering eligibility and insurance questions
  • Mobile-first: most of this traffic arrives on a phone
